Law enforcement agencies must accept credible missing person reports without delay unless specific exceptions apply
Seven specific exceptions where agencies may decline to accept a missing person report, including when the person is known to be safe, not a Wyoming resident, or being sought for harassment
Agencies must enter missing person reports into national, regional, and state databases within eight hours of receipt
If a missing person is not located within 30 days, agencies must compile a complete record including photographs and forward it to the attorney general and division of criminal investigation
Primary jurisdiction agencies must request photographs and cellular telephone information upon receiving a missing person report
Agencies must evaluate whether to notify news media and social media channels about missing persons
Amended existing statute to clarify the division of criminal investigation's role as a central repository for missing person information from Wyoming
The act becomes effective on July 1, 2025
