Relating to Critical Incident Review Team

The chairperson of the Critical Incident Review Team was changed from the Commissioner of the Bureau for Social Services (or designee) to the Foster Care Ombudsman (or designee). The BSS Commissioner is now listed as a regular member rather than chair.

The Deputy Commissioner of the Bureau for Social Services was removed from the list of Critical Incident Review Team members, reducing the team from 11 to 10 members.

Three additional co-sponsors (Senators Willis, Deeds, and Garcia) were added to the bill before passage.

References to 'the Department of Human Services Office of Inspector General' and 'the Secretary of Human Services Office of Inspector General' were changed to simply 'the Office of Inspector General,' clarifying that the OIG operates independently of DHS for these purposes.

In Section 61-12B-5, the entity responsible for submitting reports to the Legislative Oversight Commission was clarified as 'the Office of Inspector General' rather than 'the Critical Incident Review Team Office of Inspector General,' making the OIG directly accountable for reporting deadlines.
