Professional Firefighter cancer screening

HB 3215 establishes a state-funded pilot program offering free cancer screenings to active and retired permanent firefighters in West Virginia. The program provides blood tests for multiple cancers, organ ultrasounds, lung CTs if needed, and skin cancer screenings, with a maximum cost of $1,300 per firefighter. Funding covers all screenings for eligible participants, who may also seek reimbursement for self-funded screenings after January 1, 2025, up to the $1,300 limit. The 24-month pilot, starting July 1, 2025, requires a committee to report on participation, test results, and program effectiveness to state leaders by 12 and 24 months.
