An act relating to hunting or fishing license fees for nonresident students enrolled in Vermont schools

S.288 would allow nonresident full-time students enrolled in Vermont schools to purchase hunting or fishing licenses at resident rates. Specifically, it applies to students in grades 9-12, postsecondary institutions, or postgraduate programs who have completed two semesters and present a valid student ID or school verification. Under this bill, these students would pay the same fees as Vermont residents ($28 for fishing/hunting, $47 for combo) instead of the higher nonresident fees ($54, $102, or $143). The change takes effect July 1, 2026, and requires students to show proof of enrollment when applying for a license.
