An act relating to amending the pension system for sheriffs and certain deputy sheriffs

The law defines which deputy sheriffs qualify for Group G, requiring them to work in county sheriff departments, hold specific law enforcement certifications, and primarily perform law enforcement duties. Under the new system, sheriffs and eligible deputy sheriffs can retire at age 55 with 20 years of service or age 65 with five years of service, while those who joined earlier have additional options including 30 years of service. The pension benefit formula provides 2.5% of average final compensation for each year of service, with a maximum payout of 50% or 60% depending on the retirement category.
