Alimony Amendments

Added a new provision allowing courts to modify alimony based on a party's retirement, unless the original divorce decree explicitly states otherwise.

Authorized courts to consider the income of a payor's subsequent spouse when modifying alimony, but only if the payor's improper conduct warrants such consideration.

Updated the list of affected Utah Code sections to include the new section on post-decree alimony modification.

Added specific definitions for 'fault', 'cohabitation', and 'length of the marriage' to standardize how courts evaluate these concepts.

Added a requirement to count the length of two marriages between the same individuals as one continuous marriage when determining alimony duration.

Removed the exception that prevented the equalization of living standards rule from applying to divorce petitions filed before May 1, 2024.

Updated the list of affected Utah Code sections to include 81-4-501 and remove 81-4-505 from the amendment list.
