SB 2740 requires Texas counties with populations over 2.5 million to provide election materials in Vietnamese, Mandarin Chinese, Arabic, and French, in addition to English and Spanish. It applies specifically to large counties and mandates that election administrators translate key voter forms (like registration applications and mail ballot instructions) for these languages. The Secretary of State will prepare translations for state-prescribed forms, while counties may also choose to add more languages at their discretion. The law takes effect September 1, 2025, and does not override federal election laws.
