Relating to authorization by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board for certain public junior colleges to offer certain baccalaureate degree programs.

SB 1424 allows Texas public junior colleges to offer bachelor's degree programs under specific conditions. It requires programs to focus on applied science (including early childhood education, technology, or nursing) or education, and to demonstrate a local workforce need. The bill also limits each college to no more than eight bachelor's programs at any time. This change takes effect for the 2025-2026 academic year.
