SB 1344 requires Texas public schools (including open-enrollment charters) to notify parents in writing if they lack a full-time nurse, school counselor, or librarian assigned during all instructional hours for more than 30 consecutive days in a school year. Schools must provide this notice within 30 instructional days of the absence, making a good-faith effort to offer bilingual notices for non-English speaking parents. The bill allows schools to post notices on their website (accessible within three clicks) instead of mailing them. It excludes school districts or charters with fewer than 10,000 students. The law applies starting the 2025-2026 school year.
