SB 1249 establishes a six-month pilot program in the Borderplex workforce development area to provide after-hours child care for single-parent working parents enrolled in short-term workforce training. The program helps eligible child care workers obtain a license to provide care in their homes and offers subsidized child care to qualifying parents who need it to complete their training. To qualify, parents must be single parents receiving existing child care subsidies, enrolled in approved training, and demonstrate a need for after-hours care. The program expires September 2029, requiring a report by December 2028 on its effectiveness, completion rates, costs, and recommendations for continuation.
