Relating to the prosecution and punishment for the offense of trafficking of persons; increasing a criminal penalty.

Added new subsection (3) to Section 20A.02(a) that prohibits trafficking individuals and causing them to engage in conduct prohibited by additional sections including continuous sexual abuse of young children, indecency with a child, sexual assault, and aggravated sexual assault.

Added new subsection (5) to Section 20A.02(a) that prohibits trafficking children or disabled individuals with intent for forced labor regardless of whether the trafficker knows the victim's age or disability status.

Amended Section 20A.02(b) to increase penalties from second degree felony to first degree felony for trafficking offenses involving children or disabled individuals.

Expanded Section 20A.02(b-1) to include additional locations where enhanced penalties apply, including residential treatment centers for runaway youth, foster children, homeless persons, and victims of trafficking/domestic violence, as well as community centers and child-care facilities.

Added new provisions to Section 20A.02(b-1) regarding enhanced penalties when offenses occur during official school functions or events sponsored by the University Interscholastic League.

Amended Code of Criminal Procedure Section 2(a) to include new trafficking offenses in the list of cases requiring special trial procedures.

Added Section 6 establishing that the Act takes effect on September 1, 2025.
