SB 1040 requires owners to provide original contractors with a copy of any document incorporated into a construction contract (like terms or conditions) by the 10th day before signing. This applies to contracts between owners and original contractors, or between subcontractors and original contractors. If the owner fails to provide the copy by that deadline, the contractor can void the incorporated document's terms. The bill allows owners to redact non-essential information from the document but prohibits redacted content from being referenced in the contract.
