Relating to a grant program for the preservation and restoration of, and education regarding, certain landmarks and buildings important to African American history in this state.

This bill creates a state grant program administered by the Texas Historical Commission to preserve, restore, and maintain buildings and landmarks significant to African American history in Texas. It provides funding for owners, nonprofits, or individuals responsible for these sites to cover preservation costs and develop on-site educational programs about the sites' history. The program requires the commission to establish eligibility rules and application procedures, and it allows the commission to accept private or public donations to support the initiative. The program becomes effective September 1, 2025.
