HB 5608 requires Texas public colleges and universities to accept specific documentation proving a student has a disability for accommodations. It lists six types of acceptable proof, including K-12 individualized education plans (IEPs), Section 504 accommodations, medical diagnoses, or military service-related disability records. The bill also mandates that institutions clearly explain their accommodation policies to students, parents, and faculty through orientations and public websites. This applies to all public institutions of higher education in Texas, effective September 1, 2025.
