HB 5521 requires non-governmental venues like amusement parks, live music venues, and sports venues to adopt policies for possessing and administering opioid antagonists (medications that reverse opioid overdoses) on their premises. These entities must train at least one employee or volunteer to administer the medication during all operating hours, store it securely yet accessibly, and maintain an adequate supply. The executive commissioner must establish rules for the required quantity, inventory checks, and training standards. This law ensures these venues can effectively respond to opioid overdoses by standardizing access to life-saving medication and trained personnel.
