Relating to a requirement that certain hospitals prepare and publish a quarterly report on charity care provided by those hospitals.

HB 3501 requires public hospitals (those owned, operated, or leased by government entities) to publish quarterly reports on charity care provided. Each report must include the number of financially indigent and medically indigent patients served and the total amount spent on charity care during the quarter. Hospitals must post these reports on their websites within 30 days after each calendar quarter ends, starting after October 1, 2025. The bill takes effect September 1, 2025, and applies only to public hospitals as defined in the Health and Safety Code.
