HB 2373 Texas House · 89th Legislature (2025)

Relating to the issuance of an original, renewal, corrected, or duplicate driver's license.

HB 2373 requires Texas driver's license offices to issue original, renewal, corrected, or replacement licenses immediately during in-person applications, if the applicant is otherwise eligible. This applies to all eligible applicants visiting a license office in person. The bill delays this requirement until January 1, 2026, to allow the Department of Public Safety time to implement the change. The law takes effect September 1, 2025, but the same-day issuance mandate begins in 2026.
