Relating to limiting the duration of employment of certain state employees.

This bill would limit most Texas state employees to 24 years of cumulative employment, requiring termination if that threshold is exceeded. It excludes faculty members (as defined by the bill) and elected officials from this rule. The 24-year limit would only apply to employment periods beginning after January 1, 2026. However, the law would only take effect if voters approve a related constitutional amendment proposed by the 89th Legislature in 2025.
