Day Care - As introduced, enacts the "Child Care Workforce Improvement Act," which directs the commissioner of human services to develop a program to provide longevity payments to eligible child care workers and a program to provide child care assistance payments to certain early childhood educators. - Amends TCA Title 71, Chapter 3.

HB 992, the "Child Care Workforce Improvement Act," creates two new programs to support child care workers and early childhood educators in Tennessee. It establishes a "Child Care WAGE$ Tennessee" program providing annual payments to eligible workers (earning ≤$20/hour at licensed facilities with ≥6 months service and 10 weekly classroom hours for children ages 0-5) that adjust yearly with inflation. It also creates a child care assistance program for early childhood educators (working ≥20 hours/week at licensed facilities), covering their own child’s care at participating centers regardless of their income, with priority on waitlists for their children. Both programs begin January 1, 2026, and use existing child care improvement funds.
