Utilities, Utility Districts - As enacted, authorizes the members of the board of directors of energy authorities formed under the Municipal Energy Authority Act to receive certain additional compensation for attendance at meetings for each additional utility system over which the board has jurisdiction and health insurance coverage. - Amends TCA Title 7, Chapter 34; Title 7, Chapter 36 and Title 7, Chapter 52.
HB 100 amends Tennessee law to allow members of energy authority boards to receive additional pay for attending meetings when overseeing multiple utility systems. Specifically, board members managing more than one utility system can now earn extra compensation for each additional system beyond the first. This change supplements existing payment rules for directors of municipal electric systems, applying to energy authorities under the Municipal Energy Authority Act. The bill directly affects board members of energy authorities that operate multiple utility systems across Tennessee. The policy update became effective March 28, 2025, after Governor approval.
