Alcoholic Beverages - As enacted, authorizes a special occasion license to be issued in a jurisdiction wherein the sale of alcoholic beverages for consumption on the premises has not been approved with written approval to hold an event by and in such jurisdiction that is signed by the executive officer or chair of the legislative body of such jurisdiction. - Amends TCA Title 57, Chapter 4.
This law allows local governments in Tennessee to issue special event licenses for alcohol sales at private gatherings, even in areas where regular on-premises alcohol sales are not currently permitted. Under the new rule, a jurisdiction can approve such an event if its executive officer or legislative chair signs a written permit for that specific occasion. The change amends state statutes to create this exception, enabling communities to host events like weddings or festivals with alcohol without first establishing a permanent alcohol license for the area.
