AN ACT RELATING TO HUMAN SERVICES -- MEDICAL ASSISTANCE

SB 975 aims to expand medical assistance coverage for "community medical services" provided to eligible recipients. These services are intended for individuals who frequently use hospital emergency departments or are identified by their primary care provider as needing care to prevent hospital or nursing facility admissions. The bill directs the Executive Office of Health and Human Services to establish a reimbursement system for licensed medical professionals, such as nurses and paramedics, offering these services. Covered services, including health assessments and medication compliance, must be part of a care plan ordered by a primary health care provider and coordinated with other community health providers. The state must also seek federal approval to implement this program.
