AN ACT RELATING TO PUBLIC OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES -- RETIREMENT SYSTEM -- CONTRIBUTIONS AND BENEFITS

HB 5765 proposes to include state probation and parole officers among the state law enforcement professionals eligible for specific retirement benefits. This bill amends the existing General Laws to add these officers to the list of employees covered under Section 36-10-9.8. If enacted, these changes would take effect on January 1, 2026, with service credits earned before January 1, 2025, being calculated under prior laws.
