Relating to teachers.

The definition of 'contract teacher' was restructured to create two distinct categories: teachers retained after three years of probation, and teachers employed for two years who have already completed a three-year probationary period at another district.

The previous definition of 'probationary teacher' was removed and replaced with a simpler definition that only excludes 'contract teachers' from the probationary category.

The definition of 'program of assistance for improvement' was narrowed to apply only to contract teachers rather than both contract and probationary teachers.

The definition of 'temporary teacher' was removed entirely from the statute.

The bill now explicitly allows school boards to enter agreements for shorter probationary periods (not less than one year) for teachers who have satisfied a three-year probationary period at another Oregon school district.
