HB 1821 allows custodial parents (those with primary child custody) to file civil lawsuits against noncustodial parents who miss three consecutive months of court-ordered child support payments. It specifically targets parents who deliberately hide income without reporting it, requiring the custodial parent to provide evidence of this evasion. If proven, courts can order seizure of the noncustodial parent’s property/assets in addition to requiring back payments. The law takes effect on November 1, 2025.
