Schools; school districts; policy; boards of education; students educated by other means; Oklahoma Extracurricular Activities Accountability Act; interscholastic activities; effective date; emergency.

HB 2088 requires Oklahoma public school districts to create policies allowing students educated outside traditional public schools (such as homeschoolers or students in private programs) to join extracurricular activities at their resident district. Starting in the 2025-2026 school year, these students must register by July 1, pay the same fees as other participants, follow identical conduct and academic rules, and meet academic standards through a method agreed upon by their parent and the school district. The bill also updates school athletic association rules to require similar participation policies. It takes effect July 1, 2025.
