Permits accidental death benefits and/or special accidental death benefits to be awarded to the beneficiary of Patricia Espinosa

This bill allows the accidental death benefits and special accidental death benefits to be paid to the beneficiary of Patricia Espinosa, a Nassau County police officer who died on January 31, 2026, while traveling to work. It officially recognizes her death as occurring in the performance of duty, making her beneficiary eligible to receive these benefits if an application is filed within one year of the law taking effect. The bill also states that any death benefits already paid before this law is enacted will be deducted from the new accidental death benefit, and all costs will be covered by Nassau County over ten years.
