Relates to certain promotions to lieutenant or sergeant in the detective bureau in the city of New York

This bill requires the NYPD to grant permanent lieutenant or sergeant rank to detectives who serve more than 18 months in temporary commander or supervisor roles within the detective bureau. It applies directly to detectives temporarily assigned to lead detective squads. The commissioner must automatically make this permanent appointment after the 18-month period, with salaries determined by the mayor. The change takes effect immediately upon enactment.
