Relates to wireless communications equipment insurance

This bill modifies state insurance laws to allow wireless carriers to bundle equipment insurance with protection plans for cell phones and other devices. Under the new rules, if a vendor offers a bundled plan that includes insurance, they must also sell the insurance separately and clearly list the cost of that standalone coverage. The legislation permits this insurance to be sold to individuals or groups and requires the vendor to disclose all fees within the plan. The changes will not take effect immediately but will begin 180 days after the bill is signed into law.
