Provides for parental notification when charter schools receive a corrective action plan or are given a short-term renewal
This bill requires charter schools to send written notices by mail to parents or legal guardians within two weeks if the school receives a corrective action plan or a short-term renewal (less than five years) from its oversight group. The notice must include the school's corrective action plan and applies to all parents of currently enrolled students or students the school is recruiting. Schools must send separate notices to both parents in dual custody situations if both addresses are on file. The law applies immediately upon enactment and aims to increase transparency about school accountability measures.
