Provides for a line of duty presumption for disabilities of deputy sheriffs in certain cities

This bill establishes a legal presumption that heart diseases causing disability or death among deputy sheriffs in cities with one million or more residents were incurred while performing their duties. It applies specifically to officers hired through competitive civil service lists who passed a physical exam that did not reveal any signs of heart conditions at the time of entry. Under this new rule, these officers would automatically qualify for a pension equal to three-fourths of their final average salary unless the city can provide strong evidence proving the condition existed before they started work. The legislation explicitly excludes workers' compensation and labor law cases from this presumption.
