DECLARATIONS OF EMERGENCY CHANGES

SB 340 sets a 30-day limit on emergency orders restricting commerce, public assembly, or personal conduct (such as clothing, movement, or other personal activities) in New Mexico. These orders automatically expire after 30 days unless extended by the legislature through new legislation or by the governor for up to two additional 30-day periods, with the governor required to provide a written justification for any extension. The bill applies to both general emergencies under the All Hazard Emergency Management Act and public health emergencies. It does not alter existing requirements for the governor to consult with health officials when declaring a public health emergency.
