SEIZURE SAFE SCHOOLS ACT

This New Mexico bill requires schools to create individualized seizure action plans for students with seizure disorders, developed with input from parents and healthcare providers. It mandates annual training for all school staff on recognizing seizures, providing first aid, and administering emergency medication, ensuring at least two trained staff (including school nurses or designated personnel) are available during school hours and activities. School nurses or designated staff must provide care as specified in the plans, including medication administration and use of medical devices. The law applies to all public, charter, and private schools in New Mexico.
