BORDER BARRIER

This bill proposes to allocate $100 million from the state's general fund to build a physical barrier along the New Mexico-Mexico border. The money is designated for the Homeland Security and Emergency Management Department to spend between fiscal years 2025 and 2028 on contracting construction services. The legislation also declares a state of emergency to allow the measure to take effect immediately. Although the bill was introduced in 2024, it was postponed indefinitely and has not yet advanced further in the legislative process.
