LAW ENFORCEMENT CRIME REPORTING

This bill requires law enforcement agencies in New Mexico to submit monthly reports detailing crime incidents and ballistic information to the Department of Public Safety. The Department of Public Safety is tasked with creating the specific standards, procedures, and training necessary for these agencies to comply with the new reporting requirements. Once collected, the department will make the resulting statistical data available to other state and local law enforcement agencies. Although the bill was introduced, it has not yet passed, as its progress was postponed indefinitely in August 2024.
