Requires cyclical inspection of parking structures.

This bill requires owners of parking structures in New Jersey to hire a licensed professional engineer to inspect structural integrity at least once every five years. The engineer must provide a report to the owner within 30 days, and the owner must submit a copy to the Department of Community Affairs (DCA) within 14 days. The DCA will identify affected structures, notify non-compliant owners, and may close a structure if inspections fail or reports aren’t submitted on time. Owners can reopen closed structures after passing a new inspection. The law takes effect after the DCA adopts implementing rules.
