This bill requires New Jersey long-term care facilities (including nursing homes) to create detailed outbreak response plans within 180 days of the law taking effect. The plans must include specific protocols for isolating infected residents, notifying families/staff during outbreaks, monitoring for early disease signs, securing additional staff during shortages, and reporting outbreaks to public health officials. Facilities must conduct annual training exercises to test plan effectiveness and update plans yearly or after major changes. The state Department of Health will verify compliance and may impose penalties for non-compliance.
