Requires health benefits coverage of continuous glucose monitoring system for treatment of glycogen storage disease.
What changed between versions
Section 11 now provides that Section 6 of the act takes effect on January 1, 2027 (rather than the general effective date) for policies and contracts delivered, issued, executed, or renewed under P.L.1992, c.161 (the Small Employer Health Benefits Program). This gives small employer plans an additional grace period before the continuous glucose monitoring coverage requirement applies to them.
The applicability language in Section 11 was changed from 'all health benefits plans' to 'policies and contracts,' and the phrase 'in this State' was removed from the first clause covering plans delivered, issued, executed, or renewed. This broadens the terminology and potentially the geographic reach of the applicability provision.
Assemblywoman Heather Simmons (District 3, Cumberland/Gloucester/Salem) was added as a co-sponsor.
