This bill requires New Jersey's Department of Education to reimburse school bus drivers employed by eligible public school districts for the cost of obtaining a commercial driver license (CDL) and required endorsements. To qualify, drivers must maintain their CDL, complete all required training, and commit to five years of employment with a district that owns and operates its own school buses (not using contractors). If a driver leaves before five years, they must repay the reimbursement cost: 100% if employed for three years or less, or 50% if employed for four years. The reimbursement covers the full cost of the CDL and endorsements, with repayment terms tied to the duration of employment.
