S 473 New Jersey Senate · 2024-2025 Regular Session

Allows shore municipalities to provide spouse and dependent children of veterans free or reduced cost access to beaches.

S 473 allows New Jersey shore municipalities to offer free or reduced-cost beach access to the spouses and dependent children (over age 12) of veterans who meet specific service criteria. Qualifying veterans must have been honorably discharged after at least 90 days of active duty or due to a service-connected injury or disability. Currently, municipalities already provide similar benefits to active military members and National Guard members, but this bill extends those options to veterans and their families. Municipalities would have the choice to implement this policy through local ordinances, but the bill does not require them to do so.
