It affects most workers, including independent contractors, interns, volunteers, and employees, but allows limited non-compete agreements for senior executives (earning at least $151,164 annually) if they meet specific requirements like being limited to 12 months and reasonable geographic scope. Employers must notify workers about the invalidation of existing non-compete clauses and cannot use no-poach agreements that restrict hiring between employers. Workers can sue employers for violations, with courts able to void agreements and award damages. The law takes effect immediately upon enactment.
