Increases penalty for certain acts of trespass and vandalism on agricultural and horticultural lands.

S 2678 increases the minimum civil penalty for damaging agricultural or horticultural lands (farms or gardens) from $1,000 to $2,500 when court-ordered damages exceed $10,000. It applies to individuals who trespass or vandalize such properties, including damaging crops, fences, livestock, or buildings. Offenders must pay for restoration costs and attorney fees in addition to the higher penalty. This change, responding to a 2020 agricultural convention resolution, strengthens existing penalties under New Jersey law.
