S 1882 New Jersey Senate · 2024-2025 Regular Session

Provides for representation of certain regions of State on New Jersey Turnpike Authority.

This bill (S 1882) amends the composition of the New Jersey Turnpike Authority board to ensure geographic representation across the state. It requires that of the five members appointed by the Governor (with Senate approval), at least one must live in coastal counties (Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Gloucester, Ocean, Salem), at least one in central counties (Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth), and at least one in northern counties (Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Union, Passaic). The bill does not change tolls, funding, or operations - only the membership structure to reflect regional input. It is pending in the Senate Transportation Committee after introduction on January 9, 2024.
