A 749 New Jersey General Assembly · 2024-2025 Regular Session

Extends Class Two special law enforcement training for time deployed.

This bill extends the three-year certification period for Class Two special law enforcement officers who are members of the U.S. military by the amount of time they were deployed in active service. Currently, military members who complete the required training but are deployed during the three-year certification window must retake the course if not appointed within that period. The bill automatically extends the certification duration to cover deployment time, allowing military members to be appointed without retaking training. This applies to all military branches, including the National Guard and reserve components, as defined in the legislation.
