"Grid Reliability Protection Act"; prohibits State agencies from decommissioning electric generation facilities in State under certain circumstances.

This bill prohibits New Jersey state agencies from mandating, incentivizing, or compelling the decommissioning of electric generation facilities connected to the state's grid, unless two conditions are met: (1) PJM Interconnection certifies the shutdown won't harm grid reliability or energy prices, and (2) the Board of Public Utilities confirms it won't increase costs for ratepayers. It specifically protects existing facilities (like nuclear and natural gas plants) that provide reliable power during peak demand or renewable shortfalls. Exceptions allow shutdowns only if a facility poses an immediate public health or safety risk due to structural damage or hazardous conditions. Facilities must also provide 12 months' public notice before decommissioning, including required certifications.
