Requires Departments of Agriculture and Education to cooperatively implement new "Know Your Farmer, Know Your Food" initiative to promote and facilitate increased procurement and use of local and regional foods for school meals program purposes.

This bill requires New Jersey's Departments of Agriculture and Education to jointly create a "Know Your Farmer, Know Your Food" initiative within 180 days to increase the use of locally and regionally produced foods in school meals. The initiative will establish an online resource hub connecting schools with New Jersey farmers, ranchers, and food producers, providing information about available local foods, participating producers, and schools purchasing from them. It will also recognize local food producers monthly and review regulations to better support local food procurement. This initiative directly affects school food authorities, food service management companies, local farmers, and students who receive school meals. The goal is to expand the availability and consumption of locally sourced foods in school meal programs across New Jersey.
