Requires health insurance coverage of postpartum pelvic floor physical therapy.
This bill requires most health insurance plans in New Jersey to cover pelvic floor physical therapy for one year after childbirth (defined as the "postpartum period"). It applies to hospital service corporations, medical service corporations, individual and group health insurance policies, health maintenance organizations, and state/school employee health benefit programs. Insurers must provide this coverage at the same level as other medical treatments, without additional cost-sharing for beneficiaries. The law would take effect for all plans issued or renewed after its effective date.
