This bill (A429) requires New Jersey municipal governing bodies (like city councils) to provide electronic notice of public meetings via the internet at least 48 hours in advance. The notice must include all relevant documents for discussion, excluding only confidential materials under state law, documents from excluded public sessions, or materials counsel deems harmful to release early. Municipalities may hold urgent meetings without prior electronic notice if approved by a 3/4 vote and meeting specific conditions, but must provide notice as soon as possible afterward. The bill also creates a state reimbursement program through the Department of the Treasury to cover municipalities' additional costs for implementing these electronic notice requirements.
