Provides comprehensive Medicaid benefits to certain individuals formerly in foster care.

This bill would extend New Jersey's Medicaid coverage (New Jersey FamilyCare) to individuals who were formerly in foster care under another state's responsibility when they reached the age at which that state terminates foster care assistance under federal law. It would allow these individuals to receive comprehensive Medicaid benefits up to age 26, without income or resource restrictions. The bill requires the Commissioner of Human Services to apply for federal Section 1115 demonstration authority to implement this coverage. This aligns with federal law added by the Affordable Care Act that mandates states to provide Medicaid coverage to former foster youth who aged out of foster care systems. New Jersey would join 11 other states that have implemented similar programs for this population.
