Prohibits sale and possession of certain fireworks.

This bill prohibits the sale and possession of most fireworks in New Jersey, including common items like sparklers and party poppers that were previously allowed for people 16 and older under an exception. It removes the existing allowance for "sparkling devices and novelties" (such as wood-stick sparklers, snakes, and party poppers) and bans their use without a permit. Now, only authorized purchasers with a valid permit for public displays approved by a municipality may legally buy or use fireworks. Violations of the sale ban can result in up to 18 months in prison or a $10,000 fine, while unauthorized possession or use carries a maximum $500 fine or 30 days in jail.
